Are police officers allowed to lie to you? Yes the Supreme Court has ruled that police officers can lie to the American people. Police officers are trained at lying, twisting words and being manipulative. Police officers and other law enforcement agents are very skilled at getting information from people. So don’t try to “out smart” a police officer and don’t try being a “smooth talker” because you will lose! If you can keep your mouth shut, you just might come out ahead more than you expected.

A radical new idea for keeping tabs on police misconduct

Building a “cop accountability” database

The database should contain any information about accusations of wrongdoing, civil lawsuits filed against the city, criminal trials in which a police witness was deemed not credible by a judge, and news reports about police wrongdoing.

To systematically track officers with a history of civil rights violations and other kinds of misbehavior.

Cop Accountability Program

If a defense attorney can successfully call into question the credibility of an arresting officer, she might be able to convince a judge to let a defendant out of jail without bail, or maybe even to dismiss the case entirely.

Make an app that defense lawyers can look at on their mobile devices, which would allow them to view the database in arraignment court, right after they get assigned a new client.
