Majority Leader Mitch McConnell holds Hookers hostage

What's not to like about a bill that would increase penalties for those convicted of slavery, human smuggling and sexual exploitation of children and provide for additional compensation for their victims?

Senate Democrats accuse Republicans of subterfuge in slipping language into the bill that would extend the longstanding Hyde Amendment barring the use of taxpayer funds for abortions to the new Domestic Trafficking Victims’ Fund.

The word "abortion" does not appear in the trafficking bill, but there is language specifying that the victims' fund "shall be subject to the limitations on the use or expending of amounts described in sections 506 and 507 of division H of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2014 ... to the same extent as if amounts in the Fund were funds appropriated under division H of such Act."

The new bill proposes a $5,000 assessment on those convicted of a wide variety of federal crimes related to sexual abuse and human trafficking.

Republicans and Democrats are also sparring about the impact of the abortion language. Adam Jentleson, a spokesman for Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), called it a "significant expansion of the scope of the Hyde amendment" by applying it to fees and fines, not just taxpayer funds. He also said the rider in the trafficking bill would be permanent -- unlike the Hyde Amendment, which must be continually attached to each year's appropriations -- and thus "could lead to a dramatic expansion of abortion restrictions in future years."

"You can blame it on staff, blame it on whoever you want to blame it on, but we didn't know it was in the bill," Reid said. "And ... this bill will not come off this floor as long as that language is in the bill."

McConnell warned Sunday that he won't hold a confirmation vote for Loretta Lynch as attorney general before the Senate completes work on the human trafficking bill.

McConnell said Sunday during an interview on CNN that he really didn't give a rats ass about a bunch of hookers but wasn't about to let any ho get an abortion, even if it wasn't on the tax payers dime. He said the Senate is soon scheduled to turn to the budget and then to be on recess for two weeks, so there is only a limited window of time for the Lynch vote.

Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York said "this really gets my panties in a bunch, Republicans are using any excuse they can to stall the nomination. At a time when crime is down we really need something to justify over bloated budgets at local police stations across the country not to mention the useless DHS".

"If they want to have time to turn to the attorney general bill next week, we need to finish up this human trafficking bill," McConnell said.

Other articles on this have failed to get the prostitutes perspective so General Strike set out to interview some real hookers. Vice has removed all prostitutes from Riverside, Ca., so we drove to San Bernardino where the city recently filed for bankruptcy protection and doesn't have the resources for petty crimes. All the street walkers we interviewed seemed to have the same response "who the fuck is Mitch McConnell?"

The general attitude of the man/woman in the street was, the government does what they want to and I'll do what I want to, fuck 'em, politicians are all crooked and on the take, that's how they win elections, it's just business.

If the government doesn't want any problems they should just stay out of everyone's business, then there won't be any problems.

Hold the door, this article isn't over yet. One last question, if this bill really is to protect children, why are they worried about them getting abortions? Children don't get pregnant. The truth is this bill has nothing to do with children or pre teens or even slavery, this is just some feel good, pat yourselves on the back to justify your obscene salaries and this bill won't protect anyone from anything, you'd be a joke if it wasn't so tragically sad how you fail to do your sworn duty.
