Houston police nab 25 in prostitution bust

By Dylan Baddour

Federal reports have named Houston as a hotbed for sex trafficking, largely because of its location along several interstate highways and international corridors.

Houston police arrested 25 people in three prostitution stings in southeast Houston.

Between Nov. 19 and Dec. 15, HPD officers conducted three stings around the Gulf Freeway and Howard Drive, arresting 24 men who asked to buy sex and one woman who asked to sell it, officials said.

First-time offenders will face up to a $2,000 fine and up to six months in jail. Repeat offenders will face longer sentences.

Authorities have confused sex trafficking of children with local demand for prostitution, which makes solving either problem impossible. But will likely increase the budgets of local LE, anyways.
