Are police officers allowed to lie to you? Yes the Supreme Court has ruled that police officers can lie to the American people. Police officers are trained at lying, twisting words and being manipulative. Police officers and other law enforcement agents are very skilled at getting information from people. So don’t try to “out smart” a police officer and don’t try being a “smooth talker” because you will lose! If you can keep your mouth shut, you just might come out ahead more than you expected.

Texas police officer, 3 others arrested in $150K cattle rustling ring

Four men, including a Sugar Land police officer, were arrested this week near Houston in connection with a cattle rustling operation in which almost $150,000 in property was stolen.

William Allen, 37, has been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, according to Houston's KTRK (ABC 13)

His three accomplices, also charged with organized crime, were identified as Leon Washington, Justin Sessums and Myles Wallace.

The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crime, along with some local police departments.

Aside from the cattle, the men stole construction equipment, cattle trailers and pickup trucks, according to Channel 13.

The Sugar Land Police Department released a statement Wednesday saying that Allen had been placed on leave after his arrest.

"The officer has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings and our own internal affairs investigation," the department said in a release obtained by ABC 13.

Allen posted his $50,000 bond Wednesday night, and two of the other suspects had posted bond by Friday. A third was being held on $75,000 bail, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5).
Although cattle rustling sounds like a relic of years past, it is still a serious crime in the state of Texas. Stealing less than 10 head of cattle is a third-degree felony, meaning a conviction could draw up to 10 years in prison.

"Historically, there's three types of thieves here: there's family, employees or someone who knows them," Marvin Wills, a special ranger in charge of a case in Waco where ranchers found that 107 heads of cattle had been stolen, told The Dallas Morning News in March 2016. "Ninety percent of the time, that's who was involved in the theft."
