Missing Persons is an American band that plays a blend of new wave and hard rock. The band was founded in 1980 in Los Angeles by guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, vocalist Dale Bozzio, and drummer Terry Bozzio. They later added bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild.

Dale's quirky voice and heavy makeup made the band a favorite on MTV in the early 1980s. Her revealing outfits played a pivotal role in moving the culture of music videos towards that of overt sexual exhibitionism.[1]

Dale and Terry Bozzio met while working with Frank Zappa, and they married in 1979.[2] Cuccurullo encountered the pair while contributing to the Zappa album Joe's Garage (1979). O'Hearn was also a former member of Zappa's touring band, and Wild had played with a variety of bands before joining. Continue reading: Missing Persons

The band's last albums of the 1980s, Black Celebration and Music for the Masses, established them as a dominant force within the electronic music scene. A highlight of this era was the band's June 1988 con…

Official website: The Police

The Police were a British rock band formed in London in 1977.[1] For most of their history the band consisted of Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar, primary songwriter), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s and are generally regarded as one of the first new-wave groups to achieve mainstream success, playing a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. They are also considered one of the leaders of the Second British Invasion of the United States.[1][2] They disbanded in 1986, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour that ended in August 2008.

Their 1978 debut album, Outlandos d'Amour, reached No. 6 in the UK. Their second album Reggatta de Blanc became the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 albums with its lead single, "Message in a Bottle", their first …

How heroin overdoses in the suburbs exposed Baltimore’s corrupt police squad, the Gun Trace Task Force

Image
By Tim Prudente The Baltimore Sun

They slipped away in cars parked down rural roads, in suburban apartments and fast-food restrooms, overdosing on heroin wherever they found a quiet place.

Detective David McDougall Jr., a Harford County Sheriff’s deputy, suspected the heroin came from a rising drug crew in Northeast Baltimore. Worse, rumors swirled about these drug dealers. Some power protected them. As McDougall heard it, they were untouchable.

So began an investigation in early 2015 that would lead him to a startling discovery: a million-dollar heroin ring protected by a crooked Baltimore cop. That discovery would help the FBI catch a renegade city police squad, officers who prowled the streets for cash and drugs — the Gun Trace Task Force.

“I’m still floored … I never thought these things actually happened,” McDougall said. “It’s something you would see in a movie.”

Now, eight Baltimore police officers are headed to federal prison for the racketeering conspiracy.
